Why your next phone might be bendable
What I’m most excited about is something audacious: flexible screens. Expecting this much-anticipated technology to become widely available in 2012 is optimistic but not unthinkable.

Do you remember the computerized shoes from Back to the Future 2 that ties laces by themselves? In 80's, wearable technology was a thing that you only see in SciFi movies, but now it actually became reality.

A team of Japanese researchers introduced a high-tech dress at the Micromachine/ MEMS exhibition. Darrel from Japan Trends reports how the dress works.

He explains that the technology used on the dress can ultimately turn clothing into cellphone, GPS and even a ubiquitous data exchange device. In the near future, your house may be able to automatically control a room temperature based on the data of your body condition, which is sent from your garment.

How about a power source?

If we can have a computer that can be worn, we also need a portable power source.
Fujitsu is developing a wearable power source that requires no fuel or a huge battery pack.

fujitsu energy harvesting

It uses a process called energy harvesting to correct and store tiny amounts of energy from anything around you. The device being in development by Fujitsu corrects energy from light and heat. Since it is thin and flexible it can be wrapped around your body or woven into your clothing.

With the technology used on the high-tech dress and an ultra thin power source, the possibility of wearable technology is infinite. Soon we may be able to see the real Nike Air 2015.

Grids vs. no grids, at Old Urbanist : Interestingly, NYC’s Broadway was an old Lenape Indian trail into the Bronx and Westchester, later extended by the Dutch to run up to the Dutch settlement?of?Albany (the current Rte. 9). We now call the North River the Hudson River. The road along the wall is?Wall St. That canal, now filled in, is Broad St. Another Dutch?canal further uptown, long filled in, is now Canal St. More fun old Manhattan maps here. Referring to real Black Bears, not financial bears – in what year was the last bear on Manhattan killed? And roughly when, the last wolf? …
